One of the most exciting things about writing fiction, for me, is getting to know my characters. My novel revolves around three central characters, three generations of women: a grandmother, a mother and a daughter. In the first version of my manuscript, I focused mainly on the middle generation and her circle and circumstances. But this time, I am focusing on the youngest. I've been getting to know her life better, and in the process of that, I've discovered a brand new character! She is a student as well, and perhaps a new friend for my (somewhat reclusive) protagonist.
